Childhood

Kallias is an ancient Greek man born in the Attika region to a rich family that owns an olive grove. His father is Leon and he is the youngest of 4 brothers: Nearchus, Melas, and Idas. He was an adventurous and curious child, always running around the olive fields until his mother would call him back. He even liked to play games and sport with his brothers. He was very good at knucklebones.

Kallias has a very strong relationship with his older brother Idas, they were basically inseparable and always had each other's back. But didn’t shy away from wrestling matches or picking on each other….

One night during a symposium that his dad held, Kallias was invited to attend when he was 10 since he was ‘old enough’. But he quickly learns that his dad and his friends aren’t really nice people. Kallias is highly uncomfortable in the Andron and an event causes him to run away out of fear...

Kallias runs as far to the local fountain house area (which isn't really that far from him) and then bumps into his future friend and eventual wife Korythia, daughter of Brygos. Korythia offers to help him but Kallias was so stunned that they kinda were like uhmmmm….. But they got along very well and he proceeded to keep coming back to hang out with her until they got married at 18. He sees Korythia like another best friend that he can always talk to and eventually falls in love with her when puberty takes full run on him. They become teenage sweethearts at 16, when Kallias decided to take a leap of faith on his new romantic love for her.

During his later teen to young adult years… Kallias would attend local games and/or trained in a gymnasium. He loves to run and throw discs n javelin, but is more keen to running. He wins the games (once in olympia) a couple times and earns his white ribbon diadem as reward. He is also taught in military training as did any other Athenian citizen at the time.

When he’s 18 he gets married to Korythia, presenting her father with the most promising ‘promise’ of carrying on the family. Her father couldn’t really say no with his wealthy background. But Kallias and Korythia had planned this all along since they didn’t want to part ways.

Kallias also receives his grandfather’s house as a wedding gift from his family. His uncle had been living in it until he got too old to take care of it anymore. This house dates back 80 years before Kallias was born. So it is quite an old house, but it has modern renovations and is regularly fixed/cleaned.

Adulthood

By the time Korythia welcomes 2 babies into the world when Kallias was around 20, he’s simply exhausted from focusing on sports AND helping with raising Adrastus and Aegle. So his friends recommend training his mental mind instead, to rest his body… Kallias then attends classes at the Kynosarges for a while when he’s 20-23. He mostly learns about math and stars, since that was a popular topic…. But also philosophy and thinking for himself. This gives him a chance of stepping away from being a new father and not having to worry about them for a moment. He falls asleep pretty easily because of that….. (Extra context: He has maids that help Korythia when he’s not there) After a year of lecture classes and when the kids aren’t so tiny anymore, Kallias returns to his hobbies of being active in sports again.

As Kallias grows in his adulthood, he deals with normal citizen duty and takes care of his family. His inherited wealth from his father’s business also supports him, for his mother still babies him waaayyyy too much. Youngest child things…. His brother Idas also likes to visit him a lot and Kallias’ children get along very well with him. (Antaeus, Kallias’ third born, sees Idas as a role model and eventually follows in his path of working in the military.)

Kallias’s wardrobe consists of outfits that Korythia made him (she’s an excellent weaver) and fabrics he bought at the Agora. He loves to trade and shop at the Agora too, he mostly looks for stuff that he can get his wife tho. But sometimes the deals he finds are a little too crazy. Once he brought a horse home and Korythia was like what!!!!, which is basically the ancient equivalent of buying a nice new car home without telling your wife.

He loves to use perfumes too, always buying them for him and his wife. Kallias also has a few rings he wears and has a handful of decorative fibulas. He also has a laurel crown he earned from the games that he keeps hung up in his room. Kallias also likes to buy his children stuff like new clothes and treats from the Agora. I guess gift giving is his love language.

Speaking of children, Kallias has a good relationship with all of his children. Adrastus of course was the moody teenager and didn’t really like him until he grew out of it and explored the world with his music, but that is a different story. Kallias gets along the best with his first daughter Aegle. A notable thing he likes to do is to take the kids down to the beach for the day, Aegle and Althaia love to look for seashells and Antaeus loves to swim with Kallias.

In his free time, Kallias likes to lounge around in the courtyard and nap in the evening sun. He loves to snack on grapes but olives and bread are also a favorite. Sometimes he’ll even come up to the Gynaikon to help watch the kids and also listen to Korythia’s rambling while she’s weaving.

Later on, he builds and opens a mini store on the side of their house where Korythia sells her woven fabrics and eventually where Althaia (Kallias’ fourth born) sells her own pottery. This store helps provide a lot of financial help later on in his life.

Older life

When Kallias gets to be 50+, he participates a little more with his fathers business since his brothers asked for help. At this time his youngest children (the twins) would be in their teens, so he would be helping them set up for life as well. The rest of his kids would’ve been out in the world already. Kallias spends his time caring for the house and overseeing all the market trades that Althaia and Korythia do as well as paying the maids that also live in the house too. But in his free time he still lounges out on a kline (away from the sun now) and snacks on grapes. Kallias lives in his house until he dies in his late 70s from natural causes. His son Antaeus takes it over with his wife and children since Adrastus is a traveling musician and does not desire the property.
